Artistic Associate
Wendy Mateo (she/her/hers) is a Chicago-based director, actor, writer, and filmmaker. Wendy has worked the boards at Lookingglass Theatre in Big Lake Big City, Blood Wedding, and Beyond Caring; those roles for her, impacted the direction of what it means to be an artist. Wendy is committed to rewriting the narrative of theater and media to be a more inclusive space. In addition to her independently produced short films like Good Mothers and Identified, last year she co-directed Sunset 1919 with Lorena Diaz, written by J. Nicole Brooks, and produced by Lookingglass Theatre. This year presented a new opportunity and Wendy is now co-artistic director of Teatro Vista along with Lorena Diaz, continuing to create artistic opportunities for underrepresented voices. Wendy wants to thank Matt and Talula and the larger Chicago artistic community for their ongoing love and support.
