SAMUEL TAYLOR

SAMUEL TAYLOR

Artistic Associate

Since 2016

Samuel Taylor is co-founder & partner in the Back Room Shakespeare Project, which is Shakespeare in a style closer, probably, to the intent with which the plays were written: Serious Actors, No Director, One Rehearsal, In a Bar. He is author of the book: My Life With The Shakespeare Cult, which is about that kind of work.

Samuel is also owner & operator of Long Table Pancakes. Heritage grains, small batches, and local sourcing make for the best pancakes. Period.

Lookingglass credits include: Mr. & Mrs. Pennyworth, Thaddeus & Slocum: A Vaudeville Adventure, Lookingglass Alice, and Peter Pan (A Play).

Other Chicago credits include: The Hot L Baltimore (Steppenwolf Theatre Company), Marnie & Phil  (The Actors Gymnasium) Hunchback (Redmoon Theater) and several shows at Chicago Shakespeare Theater, with favorites including The Feast: an Intimate Tempest, Julius Caesar, and School for Lies.

Regional credits include: The Doctor’s Dilemma and Romeo & Juliet (American Players Theatre), Christmas Carol (Actors Theatre of Louisville), Boys Next Door (Syracuse Stage), and Henry V (Guthrie Theater).

On Camera credits include appearances on Chicago Fire and Mob Doctor, with recurring roles on Crisis and Boardwalk Empire.
