T.J. GERCKENS

T.J. Gerckens (he/him/his) (Lighting Designer, USA 829) is pleased to return to The Lookingglass Theatre Company where he previously designed the premiere of The Steadfast Tin Soldier, Blood Wedding, Treasure Island, The Old Curiosity Shop, The Arabian Nights, The Secret in the Wings, and Metamorphoses. Chicago designs include The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci, Music Man, Wonderful Town, and The Jungle Book, White Snake, Candide, Pericles, The Odyssey, Galileo Galilei, and Journey to the West at the Goodman Theatre, and productions at The Court Theatre and Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Other notable designs include recent revivals of Metamorphoses at Berkeley Repertory Theatre Guthrie Theater, The Odyssey at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Measure for Measure in Central Park Theater, Metamorphoses on and off Broadway, and The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci off Broadway.  T.J.’s opera designs include the recent premiere of the Sarah Ruhl/Matt Aucoin Eurydice at the LA Opera and Metropolitan Opera, Rusalka, Lucia di Lammermoor and La Sonnambula for the Metropolitan Opera, and Lucia di Lammermoor at La Scala Opera House in Milan, Italy. He has received numerous honors for his lighting, including a New York’s Drama Desk Award, Chicago’s Joseph Jefferson Award, the San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award, and the L.A.’s Ovation Award. T.J. is the faculty lighting designer at Otterbein University.
