Steve Weiss is retired and a former partner of the law firm of Honigman Miller, which he joined after 27 years as founding partner of Schopf & Weiss, a Chicago business litigation boutique. Honigman has six offices in Michigan and an office here in Chicago. At Honigman, Steve leads the firm’s Complex Litigation Practice Group.

Steve graduated cum laude from Cornell University in 1977 with a B.A. in Government and History. He received his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, cum laude, in 1980. After obtaining his law degree, Steve worked at a Chicago law firm for seven years before co-founding Schopf & Weiss.

In addition to being on the Lookingglass Theatre Board of Directors, Steve is Treasurer of and on the Board of the Chicago Bar Foundation, the charitable arm of the Chicago Bar Association. He is also Chair of the Grants Committee of the CBF. He recently completed a term as Chair of the 50,000 member Section of Litigation of the American Bar Association where he has been active for many years.  He is a Vice-Chair of the Chicago Bar Foundation’s Investing in Justice Campaign.  He is also on the Business Council of the Goodman Theatre.

Steve has been an active theatre-goer in Chicago (as well as New York and London) since his arrival in Chicago in 1980. Steve’s family are all active supporters of theatre. His wife, Lorrayne, is on the Women’s Board of Goodman Theatre, and his sister Susan is on the Board of Victory Gardens Theater. Steve and Lorrayne live in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood. They enjoy hiking, travel, and taking advantage of all that Chicago has to offer.
