MICHAEL PETER SMITH

Michael Peter Smith (Pedersen, Musician, and others) is a Chicago-based singer-songwriter who Rolling Stone once called “The greatest songwriter in the English language.” He has been singing and composing since the 1960s, and his rich and challenging songs have been recorded by more than 30 performers. He wrote the music for the 1990 Tony Award-winning Steppenwolf production of The Grapes of Wrath, wrote the adaptation and score of The Snow Queen (2010 Recipient of the Hans Christian Andersen Award) and Michael Margaret Pat & Kate (4 Joseph Jefferson Citations, including Best Original Music), both produced at Victory Gardens.
