CHRIS WINNEMANN

Technical Director

Chris Winnemann (he/him/his) joined Lookingglass Theatre Company in the 2021 Season as part of the Technical Direction team. He spent the past seven years as the Clinical Associate Professor of Technical Direction and Area Head for Design & Production at Arizona State University. Before joining the faculty at ASU, He received his MFA from the University of Missouri – Kansas City and his BFA from Viterbo University. He has served as Technical Director for the Utah Shakespeare Festival – Engelstad Theatre, Creede Repertory Theatre, Orpheum Theater Center, Auburn University, Scottsdale Conservatory Theatre, and the Assistant Technical Director for Arizona Broadway Theatre. He has a passion for structural and mechanical design, specifically in everything automation. He also is passionate about digital fabrication and the incorporation of new technologies into old practices. His current research has taught him about equality, diversity, and inclusion with a focus on making production areas more inclusive to ensure all people feel seen and heard in their art. He is excited to bring his artistry to the production process as part of a collaborative team to bring the story to life.
