Join us on Sunday July 14 at the Harold Washington Library Center in the Cindy Pritzker Auditorium for Small Acts of Courage: an Afternoon with Ali Velshi!
Presented by the Chicago Public Library, Ismaili Council for Midwestern US, and Lookingglass Theatre Company with the support of Chicago Public Library Foundation, this afternoon will center around the MSNBC Chief Correspondent’s recent book Small Acts of Courage: A Legacy of Endurance and the Fight for Democracy. The book taps into 125 years of Velshi’s family history “to advocate for social justice as a living, breathing experience—a way of life more than an ideology”—making the case that “for progress to be possible, we must all do whatever we can to make a difference.”
Velshi will make an address and then be joined by a panel of well-loved Chicagoans for a full-bodied discussion on the themes of the book. Joining Velshi and the panelists will be Lookingglass Ensemble Member Kareem Bandealy as host and Santita Jackson as moderator. Doors open to the public at 1PM for a meet-and-greet reception. The program will begin in the auditorium at 2pm and conclude by 3:30pm. This event is free to the public, but we request your RSVP!
