Gabriela Furtado Coutinho (she/her) is a Brazilian actor, playwright, and cultural strategist based in Chicago. She serves as digital editor of American Theatre magazine and lectures at her alma mater, Northwestern University. Gabriela is also an alum of the Fornés Playwriting Workshop and the O’Neill National Critics Institute. Her poetry, written across her three native languages, has been published by the University of Chicago and Scholastic. As a performer, favorite roles include The Mother in Blood Wedding, Odessa/Haikumom in Water by the Spoonful, and Lexi in Hookman.Other creative projects include The Bloody Bricks and Blows of American Dream High (playwright) and an immersive Much Ado About Nothing (director and adapter).
