In Search of a Place I Almost Remember: I search for a gap between the memory of a long-lost homeland and an almost reachable contemporary reality. In my photographs, I am not seeking geographic compensation. Instead, I focus on subjects from my everyday life-moments, memories, and events that are deeply tied to my emotions and personal history. These images evoke feelings toward a culture I once felt ashamed of. It was only when I felt “Israeli enough” that I gained the confidence to explore my roots.
Through the act of photographing, I reevaluate my connection to place and navigate my divided identity. The space between myself and the object allows me to recognize the changes I have undergone. Used cups, for example, carry traces of story and history-both mine and that of my family and friends. These photographs become a way to encapsulate those narratives and engage a complex dialogue with my identity.
