ADVANCING EQUITY

ADVANCING EQUITY

Our AEI (Access, Equity, and Inclusion) focus areas guide how we learn, collaborate, and create an inclusive home for artists and audiences alike.

ORGANIZATIONAL AEI FOCUS AREAS

The following three focus areas were chosen by the AEI Committee in January 2025. They represent Lookingglass’s most urgent and strategic opportunities to advance equity over the next year.

EMPOWERED LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

  • Objective: Cultivate a learning culture grounded in curiosity, humility, and the understanding that equity work is a lifelong practice of reflection, relationship, and reimagining.
  • Key Action: Schedule learning opportunities throughout the year—for Staff, Board and Ensemble.

INCLUSIVE HIRING & BOARD PRACTICES

  • Objective: Ensure that Lookingglass’s people—staff, artists, ensemble, and board—are supported through equity-centered practices that honor their full humanity and address systemic barriers to access and belonging.
  • Key Action: Conduct a barrier audit in the hiring, onboarding, and evaluation practices to identify points of exclusion or systemic bias within staff, Board, and ensemble.

INCLUSIVE PARTNERSHIPS & SUPPLIER DIVERSITY

  • Objective: Expand and deepen reciprocal, equity-centered relationships with local communities, vendors, artists, and collaborators. Root partnerships in mutual care, shared values, and long-term vision alignment.
  • Key Actions: Map current partnerships and identify gaps. Develop shared advocacy and co-created programming.
