Accessible Entrance & Seating

An accessible entrance to Lookingglass is located at Pearson Street directly to the west of our main entrance at 163 E. Pearson Street using the wooden double doors.

Patrons may access The Joan and Paul Theatre at Lookingglass using our elevator or ramp located in our newly renovated lobby. We offer accessible seating for all performances on the ground floor and balcony. These seats are accessible for all patrons who use a wheelchair, a scooter, walkers, other mobility aids, or cannot use stairs. Lookingglass also has a variety of aisle seating options available.

Mask Required Performances

Each main stage production features two mask-required performances. All patrons, staff, and volunteers must wear masks for the duration of the performance and while in the lobby, except when actively eating or drinking.

Open Captioning

Each main stage production features one performance with open captioning. At captioned performances, text is displayed in line-of-sight on an electronic LED board showing what the actors are saying and other sound effects on stage.

The recommended line of sight seats are reserved for our Open Captioning programming, but patrons may choose to sit wherever is most convenient and comfortable for them. Discount code applies to all seats for this performance.  

Audio Description & Touch Tours

Each main stage production features one performance with audio description. This service allows patrons with vision loss to hear a verbal description of the design elements, actor movements, and other elements not conveyed through sound.

Available before the audio described performances, Touch Tours are tactile explorations of scenic, costume, and property design.

The front row is reserved for our Audio Described & Touch Tour programming, but patrons may choose to sit wherever is most convenient and comfortable for them. Discount code applies to all seats for this performance.  

Sensory Friendly Performances

Each main stage production features one Sensory Friendly or Relaxed performance. A Sensory Friendly Performance, is a theater production that welcomes individuals with sensory needs, including people on the autism spectrum, as well as first-time theatergoers and younger children. The following adjustments will be made at a Sensory Friendly performance:

  • The house lights will remain dimmed during the performance, rather than completely off
  • The intensity of lighting and sound effects will be reduced
  • A quiet area will be available in the lobby for those who need to take a break from the show
  • There will be a relaxed and inclusive atmosphere where patrons can feel comfortable during the performance and enter or exit the theater during the performance, with the assistance of ushers
  • Sensory bags (noise cancelling headphones, sunglasses, fidgets) are provided for this performance

Sensory bags are also available for every mainstage performance at the box office free of charge. You may pick up the bag at the box office upon arrival.

Assistive Listening Devices

Lightweight assistive listening devices are available for every mainstage performance at the box office free of charge. You may pick up the device at the box office upon arrival.

A form of ID is required as a deposit.

Large Print Programs

Large print programs are available in electronic form at the box office. If you would like a copy in advance of your visit to the theatre, please call or email the box office.

Accessible Group Sales

Group Sale purchases are available for all accessible performances. Save up to 25% on regular tickets when you book a group of 10 or more!
