DEANNA DUNAGAN

Deanna Dunagan

Artistic Associate

Since 2016

Deanna Dunagan (she/her) has been working on Chicago stages since 1980. An Artistic Associate since 2016, she has appeared at Lookingglass in Death Tax and The North China Lover, both under the direction of Heidi Stillman. She was last seen in Chicago at Shattered Globe Theatre in Marvin’s Room in 2015. Her most recent stage appearance was at the Annenberg Center in Los Angeles in Jesse Eisenberg’s play, The Revisionist. Although she has appeared in over 20 Chicago area theaters, she probably is best known as Violet in the Steppenwolf Theatre Company’a production of August: Osage County, which moved to Broadway and toured to the National Theatre in London and Sydney, Australia. Last spring she participated in the Sundance Theatre Lab development of The Treasurer, by Max Posner, which will premiere at Playwrights Horizons this fall. She is also known for her film role as Nana in the M. Night Shyamalan movie, The Visit.

Bio as of 2017

She is unarguably prolific and versatile. No one would challenge her range. She can be “steel-spined” (Coriolanus), “erotic” (Desire Under the Elms), “elegantly serene” (The Dead), or “trailer-trashy” (The Stick Wife).
