Circus History in America

The circus has been a part of the American tradition since the late 1700s.  Not long after the United States was founded, circuses began providing entertainment and spectacle to main cities as well as smaller villages. There are six separate circus companies that have left the biggest impression on our history.  Each of these companies was known for their individual acts, and also for following the tradition of entertainment and spectacle that is associated with the circus. Each one left their mark on America’s upbringing, and that tradition has carried on into today.
