Summer Session I July 7-August 1, 2008 $1000.00 Summer Session II August 4-August 22, 2008 $750.00 Â Children enjoy a wide range of theatre and visual art activities while learning more about the hundreds of animals housed at the Lincoln Park Zoo. This program enables children to discover animals and their habitats though the world of theatre.
Lookingglass has teamed up once again with the Menomonee Club to hold our theatre activities at Menomonee’s Drucker Center in the mornings. The Menomonee Club is a not-for-profit club for boys and girls and is dedicated to providing children from diverse backgrounds with the quality recreation and enrichment activities that foster personal growth and skill development.
On a typical day, campers spend their mornings at the Drucker Center working with a professional Lookingglass teaching artist, learning a variety of special skills including acting, movement, music and storytelling. Every afternoon, campers take a field trip to the Lincoln Park Zoo for animal education and exploration. This includes visits to exhibits, animal storytelling, crafts and theatre games right there in the park! Parents will be updated weekly with a newsletter on Fridays. Children must be 4 years old on or before the first date of the session to be eligible for this camp.
Early Session campers will delight parents and friends on the last day of camp by acting out a story they have learned over the session. Campers will also showcase the art work they have created on the last day, June 27, 2008.
Session I campers will have the opportunity to showcase the skills they have learned when they present an original performance piece on the Lookingglass Theatre’s main stage. Performance scheduled for Friday, August 1, 2008.
Session II campers will have the opportunity to show off their artwork at an Open House, as well as entertain friends and family with original songs. Open House Scheduled for Friday, August 22, 2008.
