Mara Blumenfeld

MARA BLUMENFELD joined the ensemble in 2004, previously serving as an artistic associate from 1998-2004, and working with the company for many years before that. She has designed costumes for more than twenty-five Lookingglass productions, including, most recently Trust, The Arabian Nights, Lookingglass Alice, Around the World in 80 Days, and The Brothers Karamazov. Elsewhere in Chicago, she has designed numerous productions for The Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Chicago Shakespeare Theater and Court Theatre.  Her work has been seen at regional theaters all across the country, including multiple productions for Seattle Rep, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Berkeley Rep, La Jolla Playhouse, Mark Taper Forum, Milwaukee Rep, Weston Playhouse, Kansas City Rep, McCarter Theatre, and the Arden Theatre in her hometown of Philadelphia.  A frequent collaborator with fellow ensemble member Mary Zimmerman, their New York credits include the Broadway and off-Broadway productions of Metamorphoses, The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci at Second Stage and Lucia di Lammermoor and La Sonnambula for the Metropolitan Opera.  Other New York credits include the most recent Stephen Flaherty/Lynn Ahrens musical The Glorious Ones for Lincoln Center Theatre and Tony Kushner's Homebody/Kabul for Brooklyn Academy of Music.  Internationally, her work has been seen in Canada, the UK, France, and Australia.  She is the recipient of three Joseph Jefferson Awards, a TCG Design Fellowship, and has been honored with nominations for New York's Drama Desk and London's Olivier awards.
