Parents enjoy the show while their children take part in a special workshop in the Chase Studio Theatre on the second floor of our theatre in the Water Tower Works! Each Work shop introduces children to the world of theatre and themes from the play, and includes storytelling, a craft, and a snack. Please contact the Box Office for more information.



REGISTRATION & PAYMENT 

When does registration begin?

Fall Studio Classes: Fall 2011 Registration will open in August 2011.

Winter Studio Classes
:
Winter 2012 Registration will open in December 2011.

Spring Studio Classes:
Spring 2012 Registration will open in February 2012.

Winter Break Camps: Winter Break Camp 2012 Registration will open November 2011.

Spring Break and Summer Camps:Spring and Summer 2012 Camp Registration will open on January 9, 2012.

How do I register for a program? 

We offer two methods of registration for your convenience:

Registration is available only during the listed times of availability.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel your registration for a class, you will receive a full refund within 48 hours or more in advance of the first class, and your cancellation does not drop the class below minimum enrollment. If you need to cancel a camp registration, you will receive a partial refund, minus the $100 non-refundable deposit if we are able to fill your spot. Camp refunds after June 1 are not guaranteed and are granted at the discretion of the education department. 

 

When is payment due?

Payment is required at the time of registration. For your convenience, Lookingglass offers payment plans. Please call for details. All programs must be paid in full by the program start date. Lookingglass accepts cash, check, or credit card.

Do you provide scholarships for your camps and classes?

Lookingglass is committed to assisting all students in participating in our programs regardless of their financial situation. We offer limited, need-based scholarships for both our classes and camps. Please call the Education Department for further details and deadlines at 773.477.9257 x193.

Do you provide discounts for your camps and classes?

Our discounts for our Studio Classes and Camps are as follows:

Studio Class Discounts:

Season Subscribers: Receive $10 off registration
Multiple Registrations: Receive 20% off registration for each additional registration

Camp Discounts:
Returning Camper: Sign up by February 17, 2012 to receive 15% off initial registration
Season Subscribers: Receive $20 off registration
Multiple Registrations: Receive 10% off registration for each additional registration.

Discount Policies:
Discounts are issued at the time of registration and cannot be changed retroactively. Discounts may be combined, including the Returning Camper Discount. The Returning Camper Discount and Subscriber Discount are only valid for one session registration. Multiple Registration Discount will be applied to all successive session registrations, with the exception of the initial registration. Multiple Registration discount can be applied to siblings and family members signing up simultaneously.

What are your liability policies? 

Lookingglass is not responsible for injuries sustained on its premises. We reserve the right to exercise discretion in accepting students for our programs. Students may be denied entrance if, in the professional judgment of the faculty and administration, their participation would pose a danger to themselves or others. Lookingglass does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender or disability. 

Does Lookingglass offer classes at any other locations?

Lookingglasss Theatre Company has partnered with the Menomonee Club for Boys and Girls to provide theatre classes at the Drucker center. The majority of our classes and workshops are held at our locations: the John Hancock center or the Water Tower Works building. However, if you are interested in registering for our courses at the Menomonee club please refer to Menomonee club website.

 


 

CLASSES & WORKSHOPS

How long are Studio Class sessions?

Studio Classes session are 10 weeks, unless otherwise noted. Classes range from 45 minutes to 90 minutes, depending on age.

Where do classes and workshops take place?

Lookingglass' classes and workshops are held in the John Hancock Center building located downtown on Michigan Avenue, just one block away from our theatre in the Water Tower Works building. Depending on schedule and availability, classes and workshops take place either in our rehearsal room and classroom at the John Hancock Center, or in our studio located on the 2nd floor of the theatre. You will be informed of the specific location prior to the start of the program.

*Please note: our theatre is located in the Water Tower Works building and the entrance is off Pearson Avenue. 

How do we enter the Hancock building space?

You and your student will enter the John Hancock building from the Chestnut street entrance.  (Parents are not required to accompany children to the classrooms; many of our older students check in by themselves.) After the front desk checks you in, Hancock security will key your elevator to floor 22. When you exit the elevator on the 22nd floor, look for signs to direct you to your classroom or rehearsal space. At the end of the day, the students will return to the Hancock lobby, accompanied by the Lookingglass teaching artist for pick up. 

Where do I park during a Lookingglass program?

We provide validated parking for $10 (valid for 4 hours) at the John Hancock Center building located at 875 N. Michigan and at the Olympia Center parking garage, located at 161 E. Chicago Ave. If you park in these garages, it is your responsibility to ask your teacher for validation stamps and parking chasers before leaving Lookingglass. Please note that we can not guarantee that space will be available in the John Hancock Parking Garage at all times.

There is also limited metered street parking near both the Hancock building and the Water Tower Water Works, east of Michigan Avenue on Chestnut Street and Chicago Avenue.

Do I need to stay at Lookingglass during my student’s class?

You may leave during your child’s class and return at pick up time, or you are welcome to stay. The education department has a parent waiting room just down the hall from our classrooms with chairs, books and toys for siblings and access to wireless internet for parents!

If my student misses a class, can we make it up? 

Yes, if there is another class running in the same session. Please call 24 hours in advance to schedule a make-up class.

CAMPS

Where do camps take place?

Our camp programs take place in a number of places: some are held at Lookingglass, while others are located elsewhere throughout the city. Specific drop off and pick up locations vary by program. For more information, please refer to the specific program of interest, or contact us 773.477.9257 x 193. 

How long do sessions run? 

Camps run Monday through Friday. Session length varies by program. 

Winter Break Camps: 1 week
Spring Break Camps: 1 week
Arts Quest Camp: 2 weeks (Four sessions)
Summergglass Camp: 2 weeks (Four sessions)
Lookingglass Lab: 2 Weeks (Two sessions)
Summer Camp on the Lake: 4 weeks (One session)

If my camper misses a camp day, can we make it up?

Due to the nature of our camp programs, we are unable to offer make ups for missed camp sessions. 

What if I need to cancel a program I signed up for?

Cyber Monday Gift Certificate Sale: Lookinglass Education Department Terms and Restrictions

 

Purchasing the Gift Certificate
The Lookingglass Education and Community Programs Cyber Monday sale begins Sunday 11:59 PM CST and ends Monday 11:59 PM CST. Customers will receive 50% off a purchase of a $100 gift certificate. Limit of 3 per household. Gift certificates are in U.S. dollars.

Redemption of Gift Certificate
The promotional Cyber Monday gift certificate deal may only be redeemed for Lookingglass Studio Classes offered in 2012. The $50 for $100 offer expires on Nov 28, 2012. The $50 for $100 deal can only be used towards Studio Class enrollments from Nov 29, 2012 through Nov 28, 2016. Promotional offer cannot be combined with other existing offers and discounts.

Gift certificates cannot be used or redeemed without the authorized claim code. Certificates are not redeemable for cash, cannot be used or redeemable for previous purchases, and cannot be resold. Certificates may not be replaced if lost or stolen, may not be used or redeemed to purchase other gift certificates, and are not refundable. Gift Certificates may be used as personal or business gifts, but may not be used in connection with any marketing, advertising or other promotional activities without Lookingglass’ prior written approval. Buying the $50 for $100 Certificate does not automatically register you for a class. You may register either online, via phone, or in person. Classes have a limited number of spots, and are subject to availability.

Gift Certificate Balances
Any purchase exceeding the value of a gift certificate requires the use of a valid credit card to complete the transaction. If a purchase costs less than the value of the gift certificate, remaining value may be used in a future transaction.

Conditional Rules of Purchase
Lookingglass Theatre reserves the right to change the gift certificate terms and conditions from time to time at our sole discretion. The risk of loss and title for Gift Certificates pass to the purchaser upon our electronic transmission to the purchaser, recipient or delivery to the carrier, whichever is applicable. We are not responsible if a Gift Card is lost, stolen, destroyed or used without your permission. Lookingglass Theatre Company reserves the right to change these terms and conditions at anytime. If for any reason the website becomes unavailable for any portion of the day, the Cyber Monday sale will not be extended.
