The remaining plays in Lookingglass’ 2012-2013 Season will be both breathtaking and groundbreaking. It’s the kind of incredible mix that Lookingglass audiences and artists have come to expect and crave: fresh from Broadway, a daring new play by one of the most imaginative theatrical voices of our generation, Rajiv Joseph's Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo, directed by Heidi Stillman; Still Alice, an Ensemble-generated world-premiere from Christine Mary Dunford from the best-selling novel by Lisa Genova that is haunting, beautiful and surprising; and an absolutely hilarious, noir comedy Big Lake Big City from the combined dark and twisted imaginations of writer Keith Huff and director David Schwimmer. It’s both thrilling and apt that we celebrate this milestone year with a season that represents the range of the Company’s vision so fully.

The New York Times called this ferocious Tony Award-nominated dark comedy "a savagely funny and visionary new work of American Theatre." Two US Marines and an Iraqi translator are thrust into a world of greed, mystery and betrayal after an encounter with a now-deceased but still very pissed-off tiger. The streets of war-torn Baghdad are filled with ghosts, riddles and wry humor in Rajiv Joseph's groundbreaking play that explores the power and perils of human nature. ÂÂ Â |
Professor Alice Howland is at the peak of her career studying the human brain when her own brain begins to fail her. As confusion sets in and memory begins to falter, she receives a diagnosis that will radically alter her path. Fiercely independent, Alice balances how to preserve her lifestyle, live in the moment, and remain true to herself. Ensemble Member Christine Mary Dunford’s world premiere adaptation of this award-winning novel is at the same time heartbreaking and hopeful. |
Detective Bass can’t catch a break: his partner is a sonofabitch, his wife is cheating on him and he’s in pursuit of a perp with a screwdriver in his head. An eclectic set of shady characters -- crooked cops, a TV-personality doctor, a femme fatale, and one extraordinarily valuable sculpture – run roughshod through a hilarious maze of double-crosses and double-identities.  2011 Writers Guild Award-winner Keith Huff lampoons the city on the lake with a menacing smirk and tongue in cheek in this gritty modern noir directed by David Schwimmer. |
The 2012-2013 Season features productions that include adult themes, coarse language and some provocative content.
